Back in 2022 we presented ‘Ones’, a series of three fantastic one-act plays. Our audience told us how much they enjoyed the opportunity to see such diverse and entertaining theatre, so we have decided to stick with a winning formula and we are delighted to announce ‘Ones again’ as our May production!
‘Ones again’
will feature three very different one-act plays that we hope will entertain and delight our loyal audiences, bringing you a mixture of satire, drama and comedy:
‘Albert’ – This charming and delightful one-act comedy by well-known playwright Richard Harris is set in 1980s England and follows the misadventures of three characters: Albert, a well-meaning but pompous Englishman, Finnish au pair, Karin and her Italian visitor, Nico. With language barriers creating endless confusion, the result is a fast-paced, witty, and highly entertaining play full of hilarious misunderstandings!
‘A Figure of Insignificance’ – This thought provoking drama takes the negative thoughts in people’s heads and puts them into words. Madison and her friend Roni are both in their second year of college and are struggling with exams. Mum and dad go through some rocky arguments, each having their own way of coping. Madison may not know much but she does know she only needs three things in life: her books, her music and her best friend Roni. How will this change when everyone is obsessed with technology? When the voice in your head takes over?
‘Lying in State’ – The Island of Twatt lies in the Western Approaches of the English Channel, largely forgotten about by the rest of the UK and the world in general. The last King of Twatt has just ‘died’ and would like some peace, although that’s not very likely is it? This riotous and risque comedy features a cast of hilarious characters, each with their own motivations for wanting to see the end of Twatt’s monarchic dynasty!
Performances are at Durley Memorial Hall from Thursday 15th to Saturday 17th May at 7.30 (doors open 7pm). Tickets are £12 (£8 under-18s) and are available at www.bishopstokeplayers.uk/buy-tickets (no booking fee) or via our ticket line 07871 006551 or email boxoffice@bishopstokeplayers.uk
